If you are a student experiencing failure, and dealing with pressure, anxiety, or ADHD, this testimony is for you to have faith in God.
Brother Alex has ADHD. In his own words, it made it “just really hard for me to focus,” and there were times reading his Bible when he “felt disappointed that I was born this way.”
School showed him that disappointment early. Grade 9 was online during COVID, video games, no reason to try. He climbed to a 70s average by putting in effort, then hit high 90s in grade 12 chasing engineering at U of T or Waterloo.
Then came the second physics test. He got 95 on the first. He got 65 on the second.
“I came home, I just cried out. I didn’t know what to do. I felt as if all this I’d worked for was just gone. I felt as if like God kind of let go of me and was like no longer helping me.”
Then the rejection letters. Waterloo. U of T. McMaster. Only York said yes, and he did not want to be here. He walked into first year expecting to just pass. He did not care what he got.
Then Alex opened his Bible and found this promise:
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19 KJV
Around the same time, God introduced him to a brother from The Lord's Chosen Campus Fellowship. In Alex's words, "God knew that I wanted this and He introduced the brother to me… I felt so blessed because God answered my prayer right there." He has been attending the fellowship for about eight to ten months now, and he says:
"Each single time, it was perfect. It was the exact words I needed to hear to get throughout that week."
God was making a way. Not around the ADHD. Through it. Alex now calls it a superpower. In his words, “I think a lot more quicker than people, and I’m able to see things that other people don’t.”
Then something switched. Alex describes it as God flipping a switch in his brain where suddenly school “was kind of fun again.” He started praying every single day for God to help him excel. He stopped trying to carry it alone.
Watch the full video to hear how God showered blessing upon bro Alex:
A first year representative position he won by one vote. Re-election as Electrical Engineering Representative. A seat on committees where he now decides whether struggling students get to stay in engineering, and helps shape the curriculum itself. In his words, “I came into this before begging for mercy… but here I am where God’s given me the ability to show God’s grace to other people.”
Then the grade he had been chasing his whole life. His first ever 100. On a linear algebra test.
Honour Roll. Dean’s List. A GPA he never thought York would give him.
Alex says, “I feel as if God was just rewarding me for my trust and faith in God, that I don’t have to worry about just these small things and getting my grades up.”
Now it is your turn to come and experience God’s showers of blessings in your academics and in your life.
“And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.”
Ezekiel 34:26 KJV
Come and see God’s Power!
